Biography of a Mindkilla®

The  Mindkilla®Newsletter

I knew I always wanted to be a rapper when I was in 6th grade. I would go home watch Yo MTV Raps and Video Music Box and just know that this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I would write albums at a young age and stick em in my NES Predator box. I must of had over a dozen songs done and stuffed in the box. God I wished I had that box. I never threw it away it was at my best friend’s house at the time. I believe someone threw the box away not knowing the value it had inside. I continued rhyming through Junior High still not at the level that was great but people I hung around with saw a spark. I received a lot of encouragement in those years and to them I am forever grateful. I was rhyming old school rhymes like “better than the rest, and stepping to us it’s gonna be a test”. That was some funny shit looking back at that now. The group that I formed called DRM touched many throughout that time and I knew that it was only the beginning. I then went to High School where the fun times began. Not only did I hook up with the best beat makers of all time in that school I also remember the lunchroom. The best table pounders making beats and anyone who could rhyme spitting over that shit. That was true Hip Hop, that part of the art form has died and that is what I intend to bring back. The times when you bought an album and all the songs were great. The times where you lived in Mom and Pop record shops. The times when the music would be nothing without a DJ. I met Agony and Beast in High School and I still roll with them to this day. They are two featured producers that I have worked with for my whole Discography, sprinkled with some other beat makers. Beast and I created a group and lived in The Room Of Doom, spitting freestyles constantly getting blasted and listening to the cassette tapes later on and laughing our asses off. We would say some funny shit and then repeat it to ourselves and use the best freestyle rhymes to use as lyrics for future songs. We were young but we worked hard and our hunger was undeniable. We went to different studios creating demos hoping for that one big break but it never came. It is not like we went out there and tried to take it, maybe it just was not our time. We recorded in the studio where Onyx made there “All We Got Iz Us” album. We heard a couple cuts before it even came out from the engineer. That studio would burn down weeks later. We lost out Masters. So Rule #1 always take all your shit home. We continued making music until we decided to get our own studio. Beast recommended it. That was the biggest step we ever took in our lives. We all put money together at the time with another rapper called Radames Prhyme, at the time he was called “The Lost Prophet”. We ended up getting the MPC 2000 from Sam Ash. It was a beauty but we needed to learn how to use it. Beast is a genius. He could sit there mess with something for hours where any other individual would get flustered. He figured it out. I made first moves on our recording device. It was called the Fostex VF08. It was on again. We started making songs and dropping albums. We formed a group called “The Believerz” with some of the most talented individuals you will ever meet. They are still with us to this day. I feel I would not be at this point I am today without them. We pushed each other to the limits sought of like a Wu-Tang Clan. We all had our own styles and we loved what we did. I know this is a long Bio and if I wanted to detail all of this I could write a book but everyone needs to know that this album and any album in the future could not be made possible without these steps. So I would like to say thanks to all my heads who have helped support who we are today. This album V, the best in my career hands down is for ya’ll. If I am fortunate to get the chance to make it in this Hip Hop game, I am bringing all of ya’ll with me. I love all ya’ll niggaz for real. Peace.
